Progress: Before & After ("the app") is a progress-photo app for Android, published by Hugo Software. The app is designed to keep your photos on your device. We collect no personal data.
Your photos stay on your device
Every photo you take or import is stored only on your device, inside the app's private storage. Photos do not appear in your gallery. Progress has no account system, no sign-up and no server of its own. We never receive, upload, back up, or look at your photos.
We are aware that people use this app to photograph their own body. That is precisely why the app is built with no server: there is nowhere for those photos to go.
Your photos leave the app only when you deliberately do one of these yourself, through Android's share sheet:
- share or save a photo, a comparison image or a timelapse video;
- create a backup file (.zip) of your projects and photos.
In each case you choose the destination (for example a messaging app, your own cloud drive or your computer), and that destination's own privacy policy applies. A backup file is not encrypted; keep it somewhere you trust.
Importing photos
When you import photos from your gallery, Android's photo picker gives the app access only to the photos you select. The app copies them into its own storage and reads the date the photo was taken from the file, so it can place it on your timeline. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Project information
Project names, categories, dates, notes, your reminder settings, your language choice and your subscription status are stored on your device only. None of it is transmitted to us.
Camera
The camera permission is used only while the capture screen is open, to show the live viewfinder and to take a photo that you explicitly trigger. The camera stream stops when you leave that screen or send the app to the background. Nothing is recorded in the background and nothing is streamed anywhere.
Reminders (notifications)
If you turn reminders on, the app asks for Android's notification permission and schedules reminders on your device based on each project's photo frequency and the time you choose. No server is involved and nothing about your reminders leaves the device. You can turn reminders off in the app's settings or in Android's notification settings at any time.
No advertising, no analytics
Progress contains no advertising SDK of any kind. No advertising ID is read or processed. It also contains no analytics and no crash-reporting SDK. There is no tracking and no profiling.
Network activity
The app itself makes no network requests of its own. The only network traffic is Google Play Billing, handled by Google Play services on your device, to show subscription prices and check your subscription status.
Subscriptions and payment
Progress Premium is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Google Play. Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. We never receive or store your payment details, card number or billing address. Your subscription status is read from Google Play on your device; we keep no purchase records on any server.
Children
Progress is intended for adults (18+) and is not directed at children.
Deleting your data
Because your data lives only on your device, you are in full control of it: delete individual photos or whole projects inside the app, or uninstall the app to remove everything. We hold no copy anywhere, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf. Backup files or exports you created are separate copies; delete them where you saved them. Note that uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancel in Google Play > Subscriptions.
Your rights
Privacy laws such as the GDPR give you rights of access, correction, deletion and portability over personal data held about you. Because we hold no personal data about you at all, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct or erase — your data is already entirely in your own hands. The backup feature lets you take all of your projects and photos with you in a single file.

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The current version is always available at this address.
